terriblbe 2vs 2 1500pt battle report, tankity tank tank, and heldrake conversion

Well I got myself a game tonight of ig (me) and orks vs blood angels and dark angels.  ut my camera boggered itself up so heres turn one beginning and turn 2 in that order and a pic of my russ failing to kill a drop pod.

I broke out my leman russes today and got working on them.  I slapped 8 more together (theyre included here) and put tracks and guards on them.  Which of course happened after the camera got screwed up.

I also did some converting on a heldrake to make it look like a hell talon from forge world.  Heres some pics.

So basically just take the biggest wing point it forwards, jam it under the carapace, and glue it in.  More pics on that as it grows too.

Kill Kruncha Update

So I've got an update albiet only with progress on one model.  I continued construction on the kill krusha.  It's getting bigger but the plasticard is running out.  In the mean time, check out my tank.



 
 
Here's a shot lined up with the ruler part of the self healing pad so you can get a sense of scale.  Something doesnt line up?  It's orky is always the answer.  I'll slap some slabs on it to cover them up.

In the ensuing time till my plasticard order comes in, I'm looking to do some painting on my orkses now that I got this 1/8 hp tankless compressor so that I'll be able to airbrush somewhere besides my basement before 10pm. (Proper grammar be damned!)  I'm gonna be airbrushing green ork bits instead of wasting time painting by brush as the green can be painted over easily.

Grot tank update (part 3) and Next Project



I've done some progress on the grot tank.  Mostly adding a few track links and doing the overall turret.




 So all I really need to do is add rivets and its off to paint.

Oh and dark angels could come out january as theyre allegedly in january white dwarf.  Once that happens we can start talking about my company of unpainted armless dark angels.

Grot tank pt 2

I've made some progress on the first grot tank.

 It's got tracks and side skirts.  But no rivets yet.  I'm thinking of gluing a plasticard rod to the tank, then cut it really short and repeat.  Yes I know you could always cut from the rot first and use an exacto knife to pick  it up.  But i lost my knife and im looking for it.  Yes, have almost a full company of marines and 4 other armies but I'm hesitating on buying a new knife.



Well its got most of its tracks.  Which by the by were purchased from Blood and Skulls Industries.  They're the "Krusher Pattern 00 Tank Treads."  


Yes I got lazy and used scraps to bulk out the bogies as you'll never see that theyre not solid anyway.  Plus its a good way to use up all those small square pieces that are always getting under your feet at 3 in the morning.

OI! IM BACK!

Yup' I'm back to slow updates.  But I have pics of grot tanks i'm building.  Well one for now. 


I'm thinking of using the Krusher 00 Treads from Blood and Skulls Industry.  Which I might actually have some lying around from a previous project of course. 

I've been working on a list for a joint Dark Mechanicus project  using the new csm codex, which you might see parts of soon even if its just rambling about army lists.  

Now a jewel in the darkness as the dark angels codex is allegedly bumped back to next summer.  You guessed it, BLOODCRUSHER KNIGHTS!
Yup khorne knights on bloodcrushers.  Perhaps this is what was sighted as chaos marines on juggernauts.  As Ive been staring at this pic all day, Ive decided that if I get back to y all khorne csm army, I'll add these guys as bikers.  They look more awesomer (thats  right awesomer) than the bikes even though gw seems to be intent on  screwing khorne players by charging 58 bucks for 3 dudes on evil rhinos.  That and making 40k berzerkers have only 1 base attack, not 2 as in the last codex.  That and furious charge doesnt give the extra attack anymore.  But what the hell, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD and all that jazz.


Oh, and apparently, forge world built a giant battle scene of the battle of Istavaan III.

Speaking of fw, I should have a decimator, 2 butcher cannons, masterclass painting vol 2, and other stuff i cant remember in the near future.

We made good fight! Its a WAAAAAAAAAAGH!

Hey boys listen up or I'll crump ya.  Wees was makin our way to a good fight when we saw loads of ded ships and junk.  Da lootas and meks was about to get ta cuttin slabs and bits when we saw some blue 'umies landing  on a nearby planet.  We bein orks , we got questioning about why so few 'umies was landing away from dem everyone else.  Dem mareens was tryin to steal a grot lookin git someone put in a cage.  Wees orks the only ones who be stealin today, so we went to da place and got into a good bashing.
We stuck da lootas in da bashchun, while our boys and bika boss got quick to get stuck in.  Da boss got killed right quick by some sneaky umies in da ruins while da boys did it right and charged ahead.  Da umies big boomin tank (vindicator) kept blowin us up, but we kept goin, never fearin a good fight.  We was gettin slautad till dem dam dakkajets shoed up and we took da day.  Dare was lass humies than I got fingas left and da dakka tank (predator with autocannons and heavy bolters) was busted by flyboy's dakkajet.  Dey even brought one of dem spindly flyin dings, but we shot it down real good.  Deff skwadron is 'ere ta stay.
Dem umies was runnin!  Even da boomy tank ran away!  Dat dam sneaky git survived though, wes hunten em now.  We got da metal grot in da cage and wes gonna put it troo da head of all de otha umies.  So we followed da umies and wes still chasin them, grabbin good bits along the way.  Lots of junk out here.  Wees gonna catch dees gits.  Wees make good fight.  Its gonna be a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

All kinds of shart

Fixed dakkajets, more bikes, aobr ork arms, and new starter sets.

My dakkajets suffered some damage so i had so do some repair. Should I simply glue them back together?  No no no, that isnt orky.  What I did was throw some scraps together and fix it up proper orky.

First was some simple wing and tail repair.  I've decided to only use left over parts to fix ork stuff.  It's more of a challenge and looks better. And stop breaking stuff once its painted.
Yes, that rod is pretty much all thats holding the wing on except for the wad of superglue which will be painted as a bad weld.


 Heres a better shot of the support.
  Scrap plastic+trukk prow+plasticard rod=tail rudder that doesnt move.





And the second dakkajet i fixed.
 The vertical stabilizer was the only survivor.  Plasticard tube to the rescue!  and more superglue to be turned into "bad welds".


I slapped 7 more bikes together So I can run Wazdakka (fw warboss) and 7 nob bikers.  The other thing I dont have pictures of are the 80+ black reach ork arm bits I removed the mold lines from.  Yes it was riveting.

Now to the Important part.  I placed an order for 3 special edition 40k 6th ed starter sets!  I'm gonna have a load of the beautiful new chaos marines and awesome new deathwing and dark angel characters.  Yes the tac marines are kinda plain but theyre alot closer to the normal box mahreens.  Oh and theres a plasma cannon and plasma gun in each tac squad.

No, there arent any pics of the normal chaos marines as there arent any in the starter set.  Hopefully they will get revamped for the new codex.  If not I might buy a bunch of these chosen and use them as normal csm.

I just realised it looks like the interrogator chaplain from the special edition looks like hes dancing with himself.




Awesome looking cultists.  Can be taken in squads up to 30 b the way.




So yeah I'm gonna have 3 of these sets.  Thats 49 minis times 3 sets is  144 minis for $321+tax.  So theres $189 i saves getting 3 sets.  I'm gonna try to get as much ork stuff done by the tim I get the starter sets as I know theyre gonna be my focus for a while.  I mean they have to be.  Look at those cultists, which can be zombie cultists, those terminators with heresy era studded parts.

Bikers sighted

Being as I have had a warboss on bike for a while, I figures id grab a few bikers to use as nob bikers.  That and the fact that a squad of nob bikers are all characters so they can do "look out sir" to the warboss as well as each other.  So heres a pic of the first 3 without any real conversions.  The next 3 will be a mix of ork bike and space marine bike parts.  Now to find some sweet bike bases.

Rant Time 6th edition


Well Well Well, we stand at the precepice of a new edition.  Will this break the game, fix it, or leave us feeling dirty and not wanting to talk about it?  Lets get into some changes as far as I understand.

Assault
Snap shots are in-So you can shoot bs1 instead of punching in the initial assault phase if youre being assaulted.  This seems to be great for armies that arent that great in assault, but can shoot alot if given a chance.  Even at bs1.  Having a few less berzerkers chainaxing your ig blob's face is always a plus.

No more multi assaulting and getting bonuses-This makes sense and fits into the more cinematic look this coming version has overall.  IF you attach multiple units, it would be difficult to concentrate with someone else trying to turn you into a rotisserie.

Assaults are 2d6.  So now you can hit something with assault troops that is between  28" and 38" away depending on your assault rolls.

IC's can make challenges and even step in where someone else wont accept the challenge.  You can also pick you a certain model to try to get hits on, such as that pesky meltagunner.  As well as be able to use grenades in close combat.

Flyers
You need 6's to hit unless you have the obligatory sirplane shooting rule, and you can "jink" which is a 6+ cover save.  Oh, and if you shoot a flyer down, it could hit you in the face as it crashes.  Ork bommas are looking better all the time.  Even if they have to start turn 1 in reserve.  Which they have to do in 6th.

Terrain
Want to hide behind those barrels?     Fuel dumps can explode as we know they often do.  So maybe those bastions are better to hide behind.  Just as long as your opponent didn't buy them with their spare points.  You can jump on an unmanned gun and wreak havok in your open topped gun where im guessing the only thing between you living and dying is your own toughness. 

Vehicles
Essentially many vehicles now have structure points.  Of course a land raider has more then a trukk.  Well know the actual values once the rulebook comes out.  Anything can move 12" and shoot everything although its at bs1. 

Shooting
Heavy weapons can move and shoot but hits at bs1.  Being as a heavy weapon is heavy and shooting one while holding it  would most likely be hard.

Flamer weapons can be used like flamethrowers now.  You can set terrain on fire and use it as area denial, unless they want to run through fire, which isnt a good idea.

The new wound allocation is set up so you can only kill the guys you can see.  So no morehaving your guys in the fron shot, but remove guys from the back.  This and I'm reading it as if you have 3 of 10 guys behind a wall, they cant die due to extra failed wounds.  Those wounds have to be allocated to those not behind said wall.

Well I'm not gonna write everything new and I dont have all day to write this.  So go blow your months lunch money on the rulebook, buy some terrain, and wage war!

Bring out da boyz!

I took a break from bommas and decided to paint some boyz.  Heres how im gonna paint them:

1.Undercoat black
2.Paint skin gretchin green
3.Wash skin with thraka green
4.Paint nails and teef deneb stone or something close to it
5.Paint shirts random color
6.Paint pants random color
7.Calthan brown for straps
8.Use vallejo cold steel for metal bits
9.Wash everything in devlan mud a.k.a. skill in a bottle
10.Seal with satin sealer

So heres some pics of the mob ive started along with a few boys that have painted shirts and pants.
