Rant Time 6th edition

Well Well Well, we stand at the precepice of a new edition.  Will this break the game, fix it, or leave us feeling dirty and not wanting to talk about it?  Lets get into some changes as far as I understand.

Assault
Snap shots are in-So you can shoot bs1 instead of punching in the initial assault phase if youre being assaulted.  This seems to be great for armies that arent that great in assault, but can shoot alot if given a chance.  Even at bs1.  Having a few less berzerkers chainaxing your ig blob's face is always a plus.

No more multi assaulting and getting bonuses-This makes sense and fits into the more cinematic look this coming version has overall.  IF you attach multiple units, it would be difficult to concentrate with someone else trying to turn you into a rotisserie.

Assaults are 2d6.  So now you can hit something with assault troops that is between  28" and 38" away depending on your assault rolls.

IC's can make challenges and even step in where someone else wont accept the challenge.  You can also pick you a certain model to try to get hits on, such as that pesky meltagunner.  As well as be able to use grenades in close combat.

Flyers
You need 6's to hit unless you have the obligatory sirplane shooting rule, and you can "jink" which is a 6+ cover save.  Oh, and if you shoot a flyer down, it could hit you in the face as it crashes.  Ork bommas are looking better all the time.  Even if they have to start turn 1 in reserve.  Which they have to do in 6th.

Terrain
Want to hide behind those barrels?     Fuel dumps can explode as we know they often do.  So maybe those bastions are better to hide behind.  Just as long as your opponent didn't buy them with their spare points.  You can jump on an unmanned gun and wreak havok in your open topped gun where im guessing the only thing between you living and dying is your own toughness.

Vehicles
Essentially many vehicles now have structure points.  Of course a land raider has more then a trukk.  Well know the actual values once the rulebook comes out.  Anything can move 12" and shoot everything although its at bs1.

Shooting
Heavy weapons can move and shoot but hits at bs1.  Being as a heavy weapon is heavy and shooting one while holding it  would most likely be hard.

Flamer weapons can be used like flamethrowers now.  You can set terrain on fire and use it as area denial, unless they want to run through fire, which isnt a good idea.

The new wound allocation is set up so you can only kill the guys you can see.  So no morehaving your guys in the fron shot, but remove guys from the back.  This and I'm reading it as if you have 3 of 10 guys behind a wall, they cant die due to extra failed wounds.  Those wounds have to be allocated to those not behind said wall.

Well I'm not gonna write everything new and I dont have all day to write this.  So go blow your months lunch money on the rulebook, buy some terrain, and wage war!

Deff Skwadron Assemble!

Bommas pt5

Just a quick update here.  I added the other wing to the ORX-29 and picked up the first bomma so I could start painting them even if it's one my one.  Until then, heres a picture of deff skwadron as it stands now in all its blurryness.

It already looks dead killy if you ask me.  Now just to figure out the pilot, gunz and grot gunner for the ORX-29. A while ago I saw a picture of a fw fighta-bomma where the pilot was drinking unknown substance from the wing via a hose.  Better pics once I get my digital camera working.

We gots driverz!

Ork bommas part 4

I've made some progress on the pilot of bomma 2 along with the tail gunner as well as figured out the wings for the X-29 bomma.  So lets dive into the pictures along with an explanation of each.

As you can see here, I've changed the model for the bomma pilot.  I took the nob from the biker mob set along with his big choppa and stickbomb arms.  I am however using the origional legs as apparently all orks except for warbosses have the same size legs.  That and its a load easier than modifying other legs to fit in the cockpit.  I still need to fix the joint but more on that in another post.  On to the grot gunner.

As you can see I've added more dakka to this configuration as the grou is only supposed to have one big shoota.  I replaced the normal controls with something that looks like  the control stick you'd find in the cockpit of a commercial airliner.

And finally progress has ben made on the X-29 bomma.  I chopped some plastic off the trapezoidal plugs that fit the wing parts together to make the parts fit as the inner and outer wing parts are backwards.  I had to hold the actual wing part in place as the glue dried as the plugs that would normally hold it in place were butchered to make them fit.  I also moved the exhaust cone to the rear of the first wing section so I could stick a set of guns in it's place and still have the 4 sets of gunz on the wings like the other bommas.  I'm going to put the ailerons on, "then strap them down" with some plasticard or rig them up backwards.

On the last note, I'm trying to figure out sames to put on the bommas.  I currently have The Krimsun Barun (yes stolen from the white dwarf with the rules in it), and Killboy (from Deff Skwadron), but I can't figure out a third one.  Maybe an orkified version of Richard Bong (the top US fighter ace of WW2)or Erich Hartmann (Germany's top fighter ace in WW2.)  If anyone knows of a site with a program that orkifies names, send a link.  If not, send a name suggestion.

Back to the garage.

Bomma 3

Ork Bommas pt 3

I've got quite far on bomma 2.  I moved some guns, cut some plastic, added lascannons, kuztomized grot gunner gunz, and connected wirey bits.

white glue and beer.  dinner of champions.

The chin guns were moved to the wingtips, lascannons were added with "appropriate" wiring, and wing flap guns were moved to the side so i could use the flaps with the ork totem.

And at this point I realize there are no ailerons.

So back to trying to figure out the X-29 themes bomma.  If youve got any suggestions or konversions you've done, send a link or post pics in the comments (if you can, i honestly have no idea).

Time to get back to hackin plastic.

Ork Bommas pt2

now lets move things around!

Now that the first bomma is on display as its so awesome, I've moved on to the other 2.  Fot number 2 I've already moved the chin guns to the wingtips and the guns that go on the wing covers were removed with extreme prejudice so I could move them farther down the wing.  This is so I could use the wing  cover things with the ork totem.

With the third bomma, I'm trying for a style resembling the X-29.  So I've got to figure out forward swept wings and how the bombs and guns will attach. This should be fun.

It's a bird, It's a plane, It's a bomb with wings!

Ork Bommas pt1

picture stolen from games-workshop.com

Thats right everyone I've got 3 bommas that were just released  from gw and I've already half built one.  What Im doing these bommas is use attach gun bomb and rockit onto the model.  Besides it looking orky and very cool, it allows me to use it as any of the 3 variations.  So i can use any variation and have enough weapons.  Also I can use it with the FW fighta-bomma, i can still say its got enough bombs to produce the apocalypse templates.

Here's some pics of what I've got so far on a single bommer.Yes, all those guns come in one kit.  There are the ball gunner behind the driver's guns that werent in this picture, more as its assembled.

I'm making sub-assemblies so i can paint a few parts then just glue together.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

Hey and welcome the the start of my blog, Zigmork's Garage!  Mostly slow progress followed by a flurry of stuff getting done.  You can expect to see orks, tyranids, imperial guard, chaos marines, dark angels, and the occasional titan project.  If you cant tell, I mostly go 40k for modeling and even get some games in occasionally.

So grab a keg o' fungus beer, krump some gits and enjoy the ride!
